  • Hi @sinuxjoey

    Thanks for posting.

Would it be possible for you to attach a screenshot of that error?

We don't have any plans on discontinuing the SSLVPN client, however, many of our MacOS customers will often decide to use one of the built-in clients that MacOS supports.

You can read more about those here:

(Use the macOS or iOS Native IPSec VPN Client)
    https://www.watchguard.com/help/docs/help-center/en-US/Content/en-US/Fireware/mvpn/ipsec/mvpn_ipsec_ios_vpn_c.html

(Configure iOS and macOS Devices for Mobile VPN with IKEv2)
    https://www.watchguard.com/help/docs/help-center/en-US/Content/en-US/Fireware/mvpn/ikev2/mvpn_ikev2_mac_client.html

Can you please get a screenshot of that error and let us know what kind of mac you're running? (You should be able to get that info in Apple -> About this Mac.)

    Thank you,

  • Here is a screenshot of the message:

  • Can you confirm if the Watchguard VPN software is 32-Bit or 64-bit?

    Thanks,

  • Hi @sinuxjoey
The SSLVPN app for MacOS has been 64-bit since v11.10.4.

If you're still seeing this error on a up to date version of the client, I'd suggest opening a ticket with WatchGuard support so that they can address the issue. You can use the support center button on the top right of the screen to do this.

    Thank you,

I get the MacOS error that this MacOS version (Catalina) is not compatible.

  • Hi @sinuxjoey and @wander
The development team has opened a feature request to handle the reported incompatibility for the SSLVPN client. That feature request is FBX-17621.

The VPN team is currently working on this, but we don't have an expected release date quite yet.

    Thank you,

  • Hi - any news on this? We have customers affected (do WG devs test against pre-release/beta versions of Operating Systems beforehand?). The latest release was 12.2 back in 2018 from the look of it? Having to use OpenVPN Client in the meantime.

    Cheers, James

No need, just continuing the conversation in this public forum, as any response may help others. I’m beginning to think you just like to get your message count up Bruce

I hope that comment was in jest. Bruce has been on the WatchGuard forums since at least 2009 when I started with WatchGuard. He has been an INVALUABLE resource to MANY people, all for FREE.

Although 'The development team has opened a feature request to handle the reported incompatibility for the SSLVPN client. That feature request is FBX-17621' as James Carson noted, Bruce's recommendation of opening a support incident is a good one, because as soon as the issue is resolved or they have a workaround, anyone with an open case about it will get an email about the fix/workaround.

  • Yes, it was in jest - tongue firmly in cheek!. Apologies to Bruce if taken any other way. Maybe my humour is as dry as his

I saw the smiley face at the end of the comment, which is why I hoped it was in jest. Thank you for confirming it was so.

  • Can someone please post the link to the latest downloads for the app?

  • Our Firewall still has the old software on it to be downloaded. How do I get that updated to the latest? I had to download the software from this page (thanks for the help!) and then bring it to a user to install it.

  • The only way to have your firewall provide the newest version of the SSLVPN client is to upgrade your firewall to an XTM version which is at or after when that client was announced.
In this case - upgrade to V12.5.2.

  • Hi @Rick_Bray

Upgrading to the latest FirewareOS on your Firebox, will also bring with it the latest SSLVPN clients. The users will be prompted to upgrade if they wish upon connection I believe

  • Second question: Should this be updated when no one is using the software or is it magic and can be upgrade anytime? Any idea how long it takes? Our current version is: 12.1.3 (Build 563398)

  • edited January 14

    Hi @Rick_Bray

It's really simple, and if it's not a cluster, then there will be downtime while the firewall is rebooted - usually not more than a few minutes. I have seen it take 20 mins - but that is a rarity for sure. May want to leave it until the end of the day if an interruption in connectivity can't be tolerated.

If you've not done it before, there are instructions here: https://www.watchguard.com/help/docs/help-center/en-US/Content/en-US/Fireware/installation/version_upgrade_new_c.html

    Hope that helps

    Cheers, James

If there is some reason your users cannot download the client software from the Firebox, you can manually provide them with the client software and configuration file. You can download the Mobile VPN with SSL client software on the WatchGuard Portal. Use the steps below to get the SSL VPN configuration file to distribute.

Get the Configuration File from the Firebox

The Mobile VPN with SSL configuration file is in the support.tgz file you can download from your Firebox.

To get the Mobile VPN with SSL configuration file, from Firebox System Manager:

  1. Select the Status Report tab and click Support.
  2. Choose a location to save the support.tgz file and click Retrieve.
  3. Extract the contents of support.tgz to a folder on your computer.

In the support.tgz file created by Firebox System Manager, the Mobile VPN with SSL configuration file is:

Fireware_XTM_Supportsupportdebugclient.wgssl.

To get the Mobile VPN with SSL configuration file, from Fireware Web UI:

  1. Select System Status > Diagnostics.
  2. Click Download a Support Log File.
  3. Extract the contents of the support.tgz file to a folder on your computer.

In the support.tgz file created by Fireware Web UI, the Mobile VPN with SSL configuration file is:

supportdebugclient.wgssl. Ms project for mac os x torrent.

Install and Configure the SSL Client Using the Installation Software and a Configuration File

You must have two files:

  • Mobile VPN with SSL VPN client installation software
WG-MVPN-SSL.exe (Microsoft Windows) or WG-MVPN-SSL.dmg (Mac OS X)
  • Mobile VPN with SSL VPN configuration file
    sslvpn_client.wgssl

For Microsoft Windows:

  1. Double-click WG-MVPN-SSL.exe.
The Mobile VPN with SSL client Setup Wizard starts.
  2. Accept the default settings on each screen of the wizard.
  3. If you want to add a desktop icon or a Quick Launch icon, select the check box for that option.
A desktop or Quick Launch icon is not required. The client icon is added to the Windows Start menu by default.
  4. Finish and exit the wizard.
  5. Use one of these three methods to start the client software:
    • From the Start Menu, select All Programs > WatchGuard > Mobile VPN with SSL client > Mobile VPN with SSL client.
      The client installer starts.
    • Double-click the Mobile VPN with SSL client icon on the desktop.
    • Click the Mobile VPN with SSL client icon in the Quick Launch toolbar.
  6. Double-click sslvpn-client.wgssl to configure the Mobile VPN with SSL client software.

For Mac OS X:

Watchguard
  1. Double-click WG-MVPN-SSL.dmg.
A volume named WatchGuard Mobile VPN is created on the desktop.
  2. In the WatchGuard Mobile VPN volume, double-click WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL Installer V15.mpkg.
    The client installer starts.
  3. Accept the default settings in the installer.
  4. Finish and exit the installer.
  5. Start the client software. Open a Finder window and go to Applications > WatchGuard.
  6. Double-click the WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL application.
The WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL logo appears in the menu bar.
  7. Double-click sslvpn-client.wgssl to configure the Mobile VPN with SSL client software.

Update the Configuration of a Computer that is Unable to Connect to the Firebox

You must have an updated sslvpn-client.wgssl file. For information on how to get the sslvpn-client.wgssl file, see Get the configuration file from the Firebox.

  1. Double-click sslvpn-client.wgssl.
    The SSL client starts.
  2. Type your user name and password. Click Connect.

The SSL VPN connects with the new settings.
